Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get a price quote over the phone?

No. We cannot accurately quote you a price on a tattoo over the phone. It is difficult to give you a price range unless the artist can see how much detail is going to be involved. For smaller tattoos, the artist can usually quote you a ballpark price. Larger tattoos, especially those that will require more than one session, are quoted by the hour. Our shop rate is $120 hour. There is a minimum of $60 per tattoo.

How do I book an appointment?

You will need to come into the shop and put down a $60 cash deposit to hold your appointment. The deposit will be taken off the end price of your tattoo. If you need to reschedule, please provide us with at least 24 hours notice to avoid losing your deposit. All deposits are non-refundable.

Why do you require a deposit for all appointments?

We value our artists’ time and have imposed this rule to encourage our clients to do the same. The process of producing a custom art piece for someone could take a few minutes or require hours of design time. The deposit is collateral in case a client decides to no show or cancels an appointment.

What can I expect the day of my appointment?

Our artists are very busy and are usually booked out on the days that they work. Commonly, they will draw up your artwork the day of your appointment. This helps ensure that you get exactly what you want and have as much input in the design of the tattoo as you would like. Depending on the size of the piece, expect to be waiting a little while. You may want to bring a book or game to keep you busy. Remember, this is not tv- you are not going to walk out of our shop with a full back piece in an hour, like you saw on Miami Ink.

How do I care for my tattoo?

-Remove bandage after 2 hours.
-Wash with warm water and mild soap (no dyes or detergents).
-Pat dry lightly with towel.
-Apply small amount of Curel or Aquaphor lotion. Rub in completely. Do not over apply.
-No soaking, swimming, or sunbathing for at least 14 days.
-Always use SPF 45 sunblock when exposing your tattoo to the sun after it has healed.

Follow the steps above until the tattoo has completely healed (approx. 7-14 days). Tattoo will begin to peel and flake after about five days. Do not scratch or pick at tattoo. It is important to keep your tattoo clean and dry until it heals. This will help keep plasma leakage to a minimum. Only use lotions with no perfumes or dyes.

What are your sterilization procedures?

All of our artists are trained in the proper handling and sterilization of equipment.

Following the tattooing process, the contaminated instruments are placed into a stainless steel tray with a lid, carried into the sterilization room, and placed into a deep stainless steel tray filled with CaviCide. CaviCide is a surface disinfectant and decontaminant cleaner that is bactericidal, fungicidal, and tuberculocidal. At the end of the workday, the instruments are put into an ultrasonic cleaner for 5-10 minutes using 30ml (1 fl. Oz.) of CaviCide per liter (.26 gallon) of water. They are then rinsed thoroughly and put into individual self sealing sterilization pouches and placed into a Midmark Ritter M9 autoclave for 5 minutes at 270° F (132° C) 27.1 Psi (186 Kpa), then dried for 30 minutes in accordance to the manufacturer’s instructions. They are then ready for use and taken out of the autoclave machine and placed in the designated drawer in the workstation. All needles are one time use only and are immediately disposed of into a Sharps container after every procedure. The Sharps containers are picked up periodically by a biological monitoring service.

Single use nitrile medical examination gloves must be worn at all times when prepping, tattooing, and cleaning up after a service has been performed. To help prevent against cross-contamination, all work surfaces are sprayed with CaviCide and wiped down after every tattoo. Special precautions are taken in all aspects to prevent any cross-contamination.

Instructions provided by the manufacturer of the autoclave will be posted in the sterilization room on how to properly clean and care for the autoclave to make sure it is in optimal running condition. Spore tests are done monthly to ensure the machine is working properly.
